‘The Ultimate Metallica Show’ Halloween Edition: Lemmy Sings Metallica
Happy Halloween, Ultimate Metallica Family!
To celebrate the spookiest holiday of the year, the latest edition of The Ultimate Metallica Show brought out some of the creepiest, darkest songs in Metallica's catalog, like their unforgettable live performance of Diamond Head's "Am I Evil?" at the Tushino Airfield in Moscow or the Big Four's epic cover of Motorhead's "Overkill" at Yankee Stadium.
Of course, it wouldn't be an Ultimate Metallica Show without other people's covers of Metallica songs, too, so we cranked up Drowning Pool's cover of "Creeping Death" and Bullet For My Valentine's take on "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)."
But maybe the coolest cover we played—and maybe the coolest cover we've ever played—came courtesy of the legend himself, Mr. Lemmy Kilmister. As I said during the show, it doesn't matter if he's singing "Ace of Spades" or reading the phone book, it doesn't get much better than Lemmy's iconic voice, and that's certainly true when he's belting out Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters."
