Metallica, ‘Enter Sandman’ – Official Music Video
With one of the most recognizable openings of any rock song, "Enter Sandman" invaded Metallica fans' television sets on July 30, 1991, just two weeks before the band's self-titled album hit store shelves. "Enter Sandman" marks Metallica's second music video of their career.

The video was directed by Wayne Isham, who would come to have a long relationship with the band directing five more of their music videos. Before Metallica, Isham worked with several other rock bands including Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Judas Priest and Def Leppard.

As with several of Metallica's music videos, "Enter Sandman" follows the theme of the lyrics. In 1992, the video won Best Hard Rock Video at the MTV Video Music Awards. It was also nominated for Best Cinematography and Best Editing.
With strobing shots of the band performing and images of a child having nightmares, "Enter Sandman" is a music video that is hard to forget. For one of Metallica's most well-known songs, the band created a completely worthy music video.
