We had the privilege of being joined by Vivian Campbell of Dio and Def Leppard fame as he discussed Metallica's cover of Sweet Savage's "Killing Time."

In 1998, arguably the most popular and familiar version of "Whiskey in the Jar" was released by Metallica, who covered it for the first disc of 'Garage Inc.'

When you think of Metallica and cover songs, certain bands immediately pop into your head: The Misfits, Motorhead and Black Sabbath, just to name a few. A band you might not think of is actually responsible for one of Metallica's most popular cover songs. Originally released in 1974, Queen's 'Stone Cold Crazy' has turned into a staple in Metallica's deep cover catalog.

Covering the traditional Irish song, Metallica put their hard rock spin on the music video for "Whiskey in the Jar" on March 16, 1999.

Metallica released 'The $5.98 EP' in 1987. Almost a decade later, the band had added several more cover songs to their repertoire and released a double album.

Directed by Jonas Akerlund in Los Angeles, the music video for 'Turn the Page,' Metallica's first single from 'Garage Inc.,' made it's worldwide premiere on Oct. 28, 1998. Prior to filming 'Turn the Page,' Akerlund worked with the likes of Madonna, Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones, in addition to several other internationally recognized recording artists.
