Every year, there’s a little bit more of Metallica‘s influence on the band’s “Metallica Day” celebration with the San Francisco Giants baseball team. Now in its third year, the team unveiled their special “black” jerseys in honor of Metallica’s well-known self-titled black album.

As has happened in recent years, Metallica’s Lars Ulrich threw out the first pitch, while James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett took care of the National Anthem. Meanwhile, Robert Trujillo took over the mic to announce that it was time to “Play Ball.” Hetfield also took a turn as the public address announcer, reading out the team’s lineup. Check out the National Anthem and a video teasing what the band members would do if they could take over the Giants team as posted on the band’s Facebook page below:

The band also did plenty prior to the game. Robert Trujillo and Giants relief pitcher Javier Lopez visited Glide, a local charity, where they took part in their Daily Free Meals program.

And it should be noted that the band and the Giants teamed up for some fundraisers. The guitars that Hetfield and Hammett played were auctioned during the game, while additional Metallica baseball-themed autographed items remain on the auction block and can be bid upon at this location. Proceeds will benefit the Giants Community Fund, Glide and the St. Anthony Foundation.

The San Francisco Giants won the game 5-4 over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
