Metallica and Lou Reed Photo Surfaces on Collaborative Website
A couple of months ago, Metallica and Lou Reed revealed that they were collaborating on a joint album. Now, an official website has surfaced with the above photo of the metal kings posing with the former Velvet Underground frontman.
The website, LouReedMetallica.com, only features the one photo, with the words "Lou Reed and Metallica" above it and "Coming Soon" below it. On June 15, Rolling Stone published an article detailing the collaboration, which Reed called a "marriage made in heaven."
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich took his sentiments one step further by telling the magazine, "I don't think we've ever felt this free."
The songs are composed by Reed but the arrangement of the tunes was a collaboration between the veteran rocker and Metallica. "Lars and I listened to the stuff," said Metallica frontman James Hetfield. "And it was like, 'Wow, this is very different.' It was scary at first, because the music was so open. But then I thought, 'This could go anywhere."
There's no word yet on a release date on the project from the collaborative project that we're gonna call MetaLouca. But if the launching of the website is any indication, we should be hearing some music soon from the intriguing pairing.
