Metallica and Lou Reed Announce November 1 Release Date for Joint Album

Just a couple of days after launching a website devoted to their joint album, Metallica and Lou Reed have announced a Nov. 1 release date for the as-yet-untitled disc. In addition, the collaborative project has posted behind-the-scenes photos on its Facebook page.

As previously reported, the two legendary music acts revealed in June that they were working on a new disc of songs penned by Reed. The tunes feature arrangements by both the former Velvet Underground frontman and Metallica.

"It doesn't feel like we're his backup band," Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett told Rolling Stone. "It feels like we're a different band, in a situation we've never been in before."

The new website, LouReedMetallica.com, which features a photo of the two acts posing together, has been updated with the words: "North America November 1" and "Rest of the World October 31."
