Metallica’s Lars Ulrich Settles Lawsuit With Former Assistant

Mary Ouellette,

Last February, Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, was sued by former employee Steven Wiig, who claimed that he was underpaid for his job as a personal assistant during 2001 to 2009.

His job included touring with Metallica, driving around Ulrich, and arranging his calendar. He claimed he was paid $45,000 a year with an oral agreement for annual bonuses but that Ulrich never delivered on the bonuses.

At the time the suit was filed, Ulrich’s lawyer fired back, saying that Wiig had raked in about $110,000 a year before any bonuses along with free rent and wheels. If true, not too shabby!

The Marin Independent Journal reports that the suit was filed in Marin Superior Court and a status conference had been scheduled, but before they got that far the case was settled out of court this month.

Lawyers for both sides have confirmed a settlement but neither would talk about the terms. We assume it was justice for all.
