Perhaps one of the strangest music videos to come out of Metallica's camp is the video for  'All Nightmare Long,' the fifth single from 'Death Magnetic.' Directed by Roboshobo, also known as Robert Schober, the video made its worldwide premiere on Dec. 7, 2008.

In an interview after the video debuted, Schober said, "With the song clocking in at eight minutes, it deserved to have an epic story that spanned several decades and employed different visual styles." That epic story is told through a Russian mockumentary of sorts, with a terrifying ending that leads the viewer to believe a zombie - or some sort of frightening monster - is preparing to overcome its captors.

The band makes no appearance in the video; 'All Nightmare Long' is the soundtrack to Schober's creative vision. Before working with Metallica, Schober helped create music videos for bands like Mastodon, Deftones and Disturbed.

'All Nightmare Long' peaked on Billboard's Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart at No. 9.
