Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett is soon to release the book ‘Too Much Horror Business — The Kirk Hammett Collection,’ which will feature the shredder’s insane collection of all things horror. The Metallica legend recently spoke about the upcoming book to, also describing how the changes in his life will affect Metallica’s next album.

The 228-page book, which will feature over 300 images along with captions written by Hammett, will be filled with pictures of horror memorabilia such as posters, latex masks and even life-sized silicone models of Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff. “I’ve been into this stuff since I was 5 years old,” Hammett tells “You could say I started as a collector back then. But at one point, when I was 14, I discovered music, and for a long time it took over my life. I’ve lived with this stuff for so long on an intimate one-on-one basis,” he says. “It’s going to be a leap for me once everyone knows what I have.”

Hammett, who was known as “the monster kid” at school, spoke about how Metallica has dealt with the harsh criticism of their most recent works and the band’s evolution since the release of metal masterpieces such as their self-titled 1991 disc, aka the Black Album. “It’s a very difficult thing,” says Hammett about the critical backlash. “You end up competing with yourself … We’re not those people that we were when we were making those other albums, sorry to say. That’s the way it is. It’s totally and completely and absolutely fine with me that we’re not those people.”

Hammett’s book, ‘Too Much Horror Business,’ is set for an Oct. 1 release date.
